German Chocolate Cake

German Chocolate Cake 

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 

1.5 cups caster sugar 

3/4 cup cacao powder unsweetened 

2 tsp baking soda 

1 tsp baking powder 

1/4 tsp salt 

1/2 cup neutral vegetable oil 

1 cup buttermilk 

1 cup Boiling water 

2 tsp vanilla extract 

2 large eggs 

1/2 cup light brown sugar 

1/2 cup caster sugar 

1/2 cup butter 

3 large egg yolks 

3/4 cup condensed milk 

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract 

1 cup chopped pecans 

1 cup shredded sweetened coconut 

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven on 320°F and line two 9" pans 
  2. Mix all dry ingredients together (sift flour and cacao powder) 
  3. Add buttermilk, oil, boiling water and mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer until combined 
  4. Add vanilla and one egg, add the 2nd egg when combined 
  5. Mix on full speed for 30 sec and then on medium for another 2 min
  1. Bake for around 30 min, you want it moist so make sure you keep an eye on it from 25 min 
  2. On medium heat, bring to simmer brown sugar, sugar, butter, egg yolks and condensed milk. Stir constantly until thick enough 
  3. Removed from stove, stir in vanilla, nuts and coconut. let it cool down before using 
  4. On the first cake, put half of the coconut frosting, make an even layer, put the second cake on top. 
  5. Frost the layered cake with Le Caramel chocolate cream (use a turning cake table to make it easier) 
  6. On top of the cake add the 2nd half of the coconut frosting 
  7. Enjoy with your favorite coffee or tea ;)
